During World War II, some of the Repnice Caves were used as hiding places. One of them was the Repnica of the Balon family. The cave was accessible through a wardrobe from the house and further through an underground tunnel to the wine-cellar and to the cave. The latter had had two exits, so that it was possible to escape from it. The tunnels were very narrow and low and it was very difficult to pass through them. Today the cave is open to visitors and can be found in Brezovica in Bizeljsko, 14 km from Brežice.
