The municipality of Brežice
The Brežice municipality lies on a tectonic fault and is extremely rich in thermal springs, which were discovered near the bank of the Sava more than 200 years ago. The power of the natural thermal water was soon recognized and gradually resulted in the development of Terme Čatež, the largest thermal complex in the country today. The development of the Terme Čatež spa resort began gradually. It is a pioneer in the field of health resorts in Slovenia and at present the country’s biggest spa. It also belongs to the most well-known spa resorts in Europe. The youngest thermal spa in Slovenia, Terme Paradiso, was also constructed on a thermal spring, this time in Dobova. Both offer rich possibilities for relaxing and wellness pampering. You can also charge your batteries with outdoor recreation and leisure activities. We invite you to try out our numerous bike paths and hiking tours into the surrounding hills.
The greatest view on the town of Brežice
The greatest view on the town of Brežice is that from a nearby hill, called Sveti Vid (385m) above the village Čatež ob Savi. The track up will take you approx. 45 minutes. The path is quite flat and suitable for almost everybody. It is also suitable for Nordic walking. Along the path, there are so called “energy points” that will have a positive influence on us, if you walk relaxed, breath well, meditate and are aware of your existence - here and now.
