Numerous events taking place all year round contribute to the vibrant pulse of the town and fill the streets with excitement. We strive to enrich our offer with interesting new contents from year to year and are proud of the fact that a number of events have become internationally recognized.
The SEVIQC Brežice Festival
August
This now traditional festival has become the synonym of early music in Slovenia. In over thirty years of operation, SEVIQC Brežice has earned a reputation as a highly valued event of national importance belonging among the most important cultural events in the world. It has gained recognition among artists, producers, critics, the business world and music lovers.
Town Promenade
July
Every summer for two weeks Brežice town centre hosts its annual festival of music and dance. The town is completely transformed into a vibrant centre of music and dance performances in which the rich and diverse culture of Brežice is promoted all free of charge.
Additionally, there are workshops for children and special culinary events.
Posavje Theme Trails Festival
May–june
Everyone who likes hiking, cycling and spending time in nature with their family or friends is invited to join the Posavje Theme Trails Festival, which takes place in the months of May and June. In addition to hikers and cyclists, horse lovers are welcome as well, since the festival covers a truly wide range of theme trails and offers more than 30 organized tours. It is accompanied each year by an entertainment, as well as an educational program.
Dobova Fašjenk Carnival
February–march
The history of Carnival in Dobova and the surrounding villages extends far into the past. According to the oral tradition of elder inhabitants, the carnival is known from the time of their ancestors. This traditional cultural event, one of the largest tourist-cultural events in this part of Slovenia, attracts a lot of visitors to Dobova every year. One of the carnival’s biggest accolades came by being accepted into the Association of European Carnival Cities - FECC. More information about the event can be found on their official website.
Moto Rally MK Škorpion
August
The traditional motorcycle rally in Velike Malence has been organized for over 20 years by the Moto Club MK Škorpijon, attracting lots of motorcyclists from Slovenia, Croatia and other European countries. The rally takes place every year and is accompanied by a rich entertainment programme of on the venue-spot. Part of the event is a panoramic ride of motorcyclists through the Municipality of Brežice.
St. Martin’s Day in Bizeljsko

In the heart of the Bizeljsko wine region, the traditional St. Martin’s Day takes place every year. In addition to the two fun-packed days of festivities, visitors are offered a rich culinary programme with wine tasting and lots more.
New Year’s Eve - open air
December
Every year in Brežice, people celebrate the New Year’s eve on the streets, right in the heart of the old town, in front of the municipal building. During the festive days around the new year, local caterers provide particularly favourable packages for everyone who wants to bid farewell to the old year in our town. Along excellent food and even better wine, you will surely find a perfect spot for yourself, just make sure you join us before midnight for a joint celebration in the streets.
