The history of the building dates back to 1689 when the semi-circular apse and nave were constructed, representing the transition from the Romantic to the Gothic period. Today, the interior of the church is covered with plaster and a flat wooden ceiling, giving it a unique appearance. The Church of St. Vid is designated as a cultural monument of local importance.

St. Vid is a popular destination for hikers, offering various trails, an energy path, and the Stations of the Cross.

During a pleasant walk along the energy path through beech forests and meadows with interesting plants like hemp, wild garlic, white hellebore, brown-red knapweed, hikers experience relaxation and peace. The path is suitable for children and is well-marked with markers.

One of the paths leading to St. Vid is enriched with the 14 Stations of the Cross, a Wooden way of the Cross, leading from the Church of St. George in Čatež ob Savi to the Church of St. Vid. Each station is marked by a wooden sculpture.

Hikers can visit vineyards, explore the offerings of cellars along the Podgorjanska wine road, or find refreshments in a nearby tavern along the way.

The highest point of the path is the Church of St. Vid, providing an exceptional view of the Sava River valley, the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, Orlica, and even Croatia.

The panoramic terrace, co-financed by the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, offers views of numerous natural and cultural landmarks of the destination, available from December 2023 onwards.
