Upgrade of the parking payment system

In the era of digitalization, mobile parking payment offers additional payment options for parking fees. In most Slovenian cities, including Brežice, parking fees are regulated by parking meters. Due to the introduction of a new system or an upgrade of the parking payment system in our city, which is known in more than 27 countries, the option of payment in parking meters is upgraded with alternative forms of payment, such as SMS payment or payment via mobile phone applications.

The first hour of parking remains free.

The Municipality of Brežice, therefore, with the aim of simplifying and providing a more efficient solution for paying parking fees, has approached the establishment of a mobile parking payment system with the EasyPark system, which, as a leading global provider of digital parking services in the international network, extends across more than 3,500 cities.

The EasyPark application can be installed on smartphones with Android and iOS systems. To pay via the application, the user must register and enter a selected payment method (Mastercard, Visa, Diners, and Amex credit cards, or the PayPal system). The cost of using the application for parking fee payment, or the commission to EasyPark, is paid by the user. The commission amounts to 15% of the parking value or at least 0.10 EUR.

The user finds the area code on the stickers with instructions on the parking meter or on the information boards and manually enters it, or they can enable automatic filling of the area code in the phone based on the vehicle's location from the GPS system. The user starts the parking process in the mobile application by clicking on the "start parking" button and determines the parking time by turning the wheel. The application continuously displays the total parking cost and the validity time of the parking fee for the selected vehicle. 10 minutes before the parking expires, the application alerts the user, and they can extend the parking remotely. The user can also end the parking early and pay for the actual usage. The tax-confirmed receipt, which is received at the end of parking, can be downloaded from the website (http://www.easypark.si) or the application.

The user is also enabled to pay for parking via SMS message. The user checks the area in which they have parked their vehicle on the sticker/board and sends an SMS message to the number 031 20 90 20 with their vehicle registration mark. 10 minutes before the parking expires, they receive an SMS reminder and can extend the parking remotely.

It is still valid that the first hour of parking is free, however, it is necessary to take a ticket from the parking meter, send an SMS message, or use the EasyPark application.
