In the past year, Brežice, with the story of its traditional event, became one of the top 100 best green stories in the world.
Last year, Brežice, with its story about the traditional event 'Day of Bread, Wine, and Salami,' became one of the top 100 best green stories in the world as part of the Green Destinations Top 100 Stories competition.
Brežice competes in the contest with the story of the event 'Day of Bread, Wine, and Salami,' a traditional and sustainable event in the destination. It is organized annually by the Institute for Entrepreneurship, Tourism, and Youth of Brežice, in collaboration with local vineyard and tourism associations, along with the participation of local catering providers and cultural societies, who ensure a cultural program. The event aims to promote local cultural heritage of viticulture, showcase vineyard associations and their winemakers with a competition for the mayor's wine, present salamis and other cured meat products, which also include products from the Krško field pig, and preserve the tradition of bread baking with a competition. The event is intended for local residents and visitors from elsewhere.

At this year's ITB Berlin fair, the International Organization Green Destinations will present the jury's awards and the People’s Choice Award. The award will be given to one of the recipients of the Green Destinations Top 100 Stories award, who receives the most audience votes in this competition.
