Bubbles are the heart of the story of the Istenič family. Their love for sparkling wine began half a century ago, even before sparkling wine became a wine sensation. After graduating in oenology, Janez Istenič successfully started his career as a winemaker in one of the Yugoslav state wine cellars. His enthusiasm for bubbles reached its peak during his study visit to France, where he learned about the champagne-making tradition. After returning home, he recognized similarity between his father-in-law's vineyards and those in Champagne. With some savings, he paved his way as the first Slovenian private producer of sparkling wine. In 1968, his first wine and daughter were born, and they both got a beautiful name Barbara.
