Bubbles have found their home here for over 50 years. When Janez Istenič first tasted real Champagne in France, he knew he wanted to bring that story to Slovenia. He left nothing to chance. As the first private producer of sparkling wine in Slovenia, he laid the foundations for what has become the Istenič brand. And how did it all begin? In 1968, he released his first sparkling wine, naming it after his daughter Barbara, born that same year.

Today, you can taste their finest sparkling wines, such as Barbara and No. 1, both part of the collective brand Brežice Selection. Their guided tours and tastings offer a unique opportunity to learn firsthand how the perfect bubbles are created in every glass.
