During the festival week, concerts, hikes, guided tours, historical programmes, and culinary experiences will take place at various locations across Posavje.
On Wednesday, 15 April, you are invited to listen to the story of one of the boldest contemporary cycling journeys.
Aleš Juvanc has dreamed of cycling around the world since childhood – a dream he is now living to the fullest. He has cycled across all continents, often covering more than 225 kilometres per day. In recent years, he has mainly used trekking bikes and frequently combines cycling with visits to major international sporting events. To date, he has attended around 40 such events, including:
- a cycling journey from home to China during the Summer Olympic Games,
- a route from Kenya to South Africa during the FIFA World Cup,
- cycling across South Korea during the FIFA World Cup,
- and a journey from home to France during the Tour de France.
Aleš regularly shares his experiences through travel lectures both in Slovenia and abroad.
At Podsreda Castle, he will present his remarkable journey titled “Cycling Odyssey from Slovenia to Guinea-Bissau.” He began in his hometown of Škofljica and cycled across the Balkans to Athens, where he attended a Champions League match. At the Acropolis, he experienced an unfortunate incident – theft. His journey then continued through Asia and Africa, including a visit to Carthage and the northernmost point of Africa. In Morocco, he crossed the Sahara heading south through Senegal, concluding his cycling odyssey in Guinea-Bissau.
In four months, he cycled 7,548 kilometres and visited 14 countries.
