This year, the traditional wine pair – Cviček PTP and Beli Bizeljčan PTP – was once again included in the selection, while Yellow Muscat was chosen as this year’s Mayor’s Wine.
On Thursday, 16 April, wine evaluation took place at the Institute for Entrepreneurship, Tourism and Youth Brežice as part of the traditional Mayor’s Wine Selection, now in its 12th edition this year.
The expert committee, composed of Milena Rožman, Adi Brod, Jože Prah, Mihael Balon, and Roman Baškovč, evaluated as many as 62 different wine samples this year, submitted by local winegrowers’ associations (26 samples of Cviček, 18 samples of Beli Bizeljčan, and 18 samples of Yellow Muscat).
We are especially pleased that every year members of all six winegrowers’ associations in the Municipality of Brežice contribute samples of their finest wines to the selection, confirming the high-quality work of local winegrowers and the rich winegrowing tradition of our area.
This year, the awards for the winners will once again be presented at the traditional event Bread, Wine and Salami Day, which will take place on Friday, 19 June, in the castle courtyard of the Posavski muzej Brežice. In addition to bread, wine, and salami tastings, the music group Gadi will provide a great atmosphere.
Tickets are already available in presale online via Eventim and in physical form at TIC Čatež ob Savi and at the information point of the Youth Centre Brežice. On the day of the event, tickets will also be available at the castle entrance, provided they are not sold out during the presale.
