This year, 53 wine samples were evaluated.
On Wednesday, March 26, the evaluation of wines took place at the Brežice Institute for Entrepreneurship, Tourism and Youth – the now traditional 11th edition of the Mayor’s Wine Selection.
The expert panel, composed of Milena Rožman (chair), Adi Brod, Jože Prah, Mihael Balon, and Roman Baškovč, evaluated 53 different samples submitted by local winegrowers' associations. Once again, the traditional wine pair – cviček PTP and beli bizeljčan PTP – participated in the selection, with 22 samples of cviček and 18 samples of beli bizeljčan submitted for evaluation.
A special highlight of the event is the selection of the Mayor’s Chosen Wine. After last year’s modra frankinja, this year the spotlight turned to laški rizling. Among the 13 submitted samples, the judges noted exceptional quality.
We are pleased that the best wine samples are submitted each year by members of all six winegrowers' associations in the Municipality of Brežice. This year, all submitted wines reached the quality threshold, and not a single wine was excluded.
The winners will be announced at the traditional event “Bread, Wine and Salami Day,” which will take place on Saturday, June 14, in the courtyard of the Posavje Museum Brežice. You are warmly invited to join us and raise a glass to the best wines of 2025!
