Brežice will host the Regional Meeting of the European Heritage Days and Cultural Heritage Week, aimed at connecting professionals and the wider public in the field of safeguarding and revitalising heritage.
This year’s central theme, “Heritage in the Whirlwind of Change – Opportunities and Challenges,” raises questions about how cultural heritage responds to contemporary social, environmental, and developmental challenges, and how we integrate it into community life, education, and learning processes.

Why are and this meeting so important?
European Heritage Days represent the most recognisable cultural initiative under the auspices of the Council of Europe and the European Union. They connect 50 countries, 6,000 towns, and more than 30,000 cultural monuments. Events are intended for families, young people, and the general public, and during this time many monuments open their doors free of charge.
Cultural Heritage Week places special emphasis on children and young people and encourages the inclusion of heritage-related content in both formal and non-formal education.
With its rich history, architecture, and living stories, Brežice once again confirms its important role in co-creating the shared European heritage narrative.
You are warmly invited to participate and help shape the heritage of the future.
