Pišece Castle is being given a new opportunity for revitalization. The signing of the management agreement marks the beginning of a new chapter that will bring greater accessibility, new content, and stronger integration into the area’s tourism offer.
On 17 February 2026, during the working visit of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia to the Posavje region, the Minister of Culture, Dr. Asta Vrečko, signed the management agreement for Pišece Castle at the Posavje Museum Brežice together with the Mayor of the Municipality of Brežice, Ivan Molan, and the Director of the Posavje Museum Brežice, Alenka Černelič Krošelj.
The signing of the agreement represents an important milestone in the castle’s content revitalization and its gradual reopening to the public. In cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Brežice, it was recognized that the Posavje Museum Brežice, as a public institution with professional expertise and experience, can take over the management of this cultural monument of national importance.
The trust shown by the state, the municipality, and the local community opens up new opportunities for developing content that will ensure accessibility of cultural heritage, its sustainable preservation, and its integration into the broader cultural and tourism offer of the area. Special thanks also go to the Pišece Local Community and everyone who supported and contributed to the successful completion of this process.
