The old town center of Brežice will once again be the scene of the most heartwarming summer event in Brežice from July 9th to 18th - Mestna promenada Brežice is returning to the city. This multi-day summer event, which combines music, cuisine, and sustainable thinking, remains true to its tradition, while offering something new every year.
Every day something special, and the opening evening will be in the spirit of local
The opening day brings an exceptional evening to the old town center, and the main theme of the evening will be "Brežice Selection - the best from the local environment". After the exceptional success of last year's Kuhinje na ulici, restaurateurs who hold the certificate of excellence of the Brežice Selection Collective Brand (Gostilna Pension Les, Turistična kmetija Vimpolšek, Stara gostilna Krulc, Huda., Riba in pol, Mesarija Krošelj, Turistična kmetija Pri Martinovih, Sladke zgodbe Janez and Reset Brewery) will once again cook on the street, there will be a green children's corner for the youngest, and in the spirit of local, Nuša Derenda, Robert Petan, Niko Zagode, Adrijana Jelen, Anja Kramar, Rok Ferenčak and The Rafters will stand together on stage for the first time.
Thursday will be in the spirit of Pika Nogavička, Friday evening will smell of the sea, with a performance by Klapa Semikanta. Saturday evening will feature the timeless hits of ABBA Real Tribute Band from Serbia, while Sunday brings a dance workshop, presentations by local dance groups and a dance evening under the stars.
In the second week, there will be even more music, art and light experiences
Tuesday traditionally brings a movie night (Cinema under the stars) at the Posavje Museum Brežice, followed by the circus performance Bratov Malek and the concert Parni Valjak by the tribute band – P. Valiak. Thursday evening will be emotional, as we will enjoy the musically accomplished performance of Maja Keuc, who will combine her energy on stage with the local Children's Choir Lučke iz Kapel.
The City Promenade will conclude on Friday, July 18th, with a fire ring show and a concert by the Croatian rock band Vatra.
Wine experience and painting creativity in the park near the Municipality of Brežice
A new feature of this year's promenade is a wine corner, which will be available on both Fridays, July 11 and 18, in the park near the Municipality of Brežice. Visitors will be able to taste selected local wines and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the view of the highest landmark in Brežice, the Water Tower. The popular painting workshops Wine & Paint will also be held in the park at the same time - relaxed painting with wine in hand, where everyone paints their own work of art under the guidance of an artist, regardless of their previous painting experience.
New workshops and an expanded program for children
This year's program is especially rich in content for the youngest. The green children's corner, which will be open for several days, will this year offer creative workshops, animations, movement activities, face painting and even a mini circus. There will also be a special emphasis on sports entertainment - on Saturday, July 12, children will be able to try their hand at the Mini Athletic Olympics, where they will find training grounds, games and physical challenges.
An event for all generations
Mestna promenada will once again be a meeting point for all tastes. The event was already listed among the Top 100 Stories in the World by the global organization Green Destinations in 2024, as an example of good practice in the field of sustainable tourism. This year, the organizers are also striving to maintain high environmental standards and encourage visitors to behave responsibly and sustainably at events. To make socializing in the old town even more enjoyable, this year the green sponsor of the event, HESS d.o.o., will take care of this.
All activities on Mestna promenada (with the exception of the Wine & Paint workshop, €25 per person) are free of charge.
