Jure Tomič from Ošterija Debeluh has been named Chef of the Year by Gault&Millau, one of the most prestigious recognitions in gastronomy.
This recognition represents an important confirmation of his dedication, expertise, and exceptional creativity, which he has been expressing for many years through his refined culinary offering. Jure Tomič builds his cuisine on respect for tradition and local ingredients, elevating them with innovative approaches and modern techniques to create a distinctive, author-driven culinary style.
His professional journey is remarkable – he opened his restaurant at a young age without formal culinary education and has since developed into one of Slovenia’s most prominent chefs. He is also a former national sommelier champion and a world champion in pasta making, further reflecting his broad gastronomic knowledge and passion.
Ošterija Debeluh has also been awarded four toques by Gault&Millau, placing it among the top restaurants in Slovenia and reinforcing its role as a key ambassador of culinary excellence in the region.
Ošterija Debeluh is part of the Brežice Izbrano collective brand in the “House of Gastronomy” category, representing the highest level of culinary excellence in the Brežice destination.
