The scent of fresh bread, the sound of the accordion, homemade salami, and a glass of local wine.

ZPTM Brežice invites you to Dan kruha, vina in salam – a celebration of local flavors and collaboration among the many contributors shaping the image of Brežice’s tourism.

Also this year, Brežice will be marked by tradition, community, and authentic flavors in mid-June. On Saturday, June 14, Dan kruha, vina in salam returns to the courtyard of the Posavje Museum – an event that, year after year, confirms that “local” really counts.

The event, which brings together local winegrowing and tourism associations, will once again offer a rich program: a homemade bread baking competition, wine tastings by all six winegrowing associations, the award ceremony for the winners of the 2025 Mayor’s Wine, homemade salami tasting, and a diverse accompanying program.

The event carries an important message: the preservation of local identity through cuisine, intergenerational connection, and a commitment to sustainability. For this reason, Dan kruha, vina in salam is a proud holder of the Brežice Selection collective brand certificate, and in 2023, the global organization Green Destinations included it among the Top 100 sustainable stories in the world.

Homemade bread baking competition

Once again, we invite all lovers of baking and traditional treats to take part in the homemade bread baking competition. The evaluation will take place in five categories: white bread, mixed bread, specialty bread, festive bread, and bread leavened with other leavening agents.

The bread must be made from 1 kg of flour and baked at least four hours before the evaluation. Bread should be submitted on the day of the event between 14:00 and 15:00 at the Posavje Museum Brežice. The announcement of the best breads will follow in the evening on the main stage.

To participate in the competition, a completed application form is required upon submission of the bread. The form can be found in the attachment below.
