The festival, which in recent years has become one of the region’s central vocal events for young singers, will once again host talented soloists from Slovenia and abroad. Out of a record 187 applications from young vocal talents, the expert jury selected 64 gifted young musicians for the semifinals—well above the usual 50.
From 22 to 24 August, Brežice will once again come alive with music, children’s creativity, and international exchange as it welcomes the 9th International Children’s Singing Festival Brežice.
The semifinals will take place on Friday, 22 August, and Saturday, 23 August, when the jury will select the finalists to perform at the festival’s closing evening. The grand final will be held on Sunday, 24 August, in the courtyard of the Posavje Museum Brežice, where the winners in each age category will be announced.
The organizers emphasize that the large number of applications reflects the vibrant interest of young people in musical expression. According to them, there is no need to fear for the future of vocal talent—on the contrary, the enthusiasm and dedication among children are both encouraging and inspiring.
The festival is open to children and teenagers aged 6 to 17, who perform in three age groups. Once again, the organizers are ensuring equal conditions for all participants. The festival is free of charge for contestants, offering them the opportunity to perform in a professional environment, with full technical support and music production.
In addition to the competitive part, the festival also serves as an opportunity for socializing, sharing experiences, and intercultural exchange. Many participants later continue their musical journeys on larger stages at home and abroad.
For the first time this year, the 9th International Children’s Singing Festival Brežice will introduce digital “smart voting” for the audience. Visitors will be able to cast their vote for their favorite performer in each age group via mobile phone, using a QR code on their ticket.
The festival is once again organized by Brigita Šuler and Maks Žbogar, in cooperation with Partitura d.o.o., the Municipality of Brežice, the Institute for Entrepreneurship, Tourism and Youth Brežice, and the Posavje Museum Brežice.
