At the Days of Slovenian Tourism, Brežice received two awards.
At the Days of Slovenian Tourism 2025, held from November 10 to 12 at Brdo pri Kranju, the Tourist Association of Slovenia announced the recipients of the national competition My Country – the Sign of Hospitality 2025. Among the awardees is the destination Brežice, which received two important recognitions:
- Bronze Sign of Hospitality by the expert committee, confirming that through consistent effort, cooperation, and sustainable tourism development, Brežice ranks among the most recognizable and hospitable destinations in Slovenia.
- Green Sign of Hospitality awarded through public online voting in the category of top tourist destinations. This recognition reflects the genuine affection of visitors and their positive experiences in Brežice, confirming that visitors perceive it as a place where they feel welcome, where nature, local cuisine, and cultural heritage are valued, and where sustainable values are lived in practice.
The significance of the awards and commitment to sustainability
Through the project My Country – the Sign of Hospitality, the Tourist Association of Slovenia has for many years promoted a high-quality, responsible, and sustainability-oriented tourism offer. The two awards received by the destination Brežice confirm the successful work of the local community, tourism providers, and everyone who, through collaboration, creates conditions for a high quality of life for residents and a pleasant experience for visitors.
In Brežice, sustainability is understood as a responsibility towards the environment, people, and future generations. Our work is based on the protection of natural resources, respect for cultural diversity, and support for the local economy. In practice, this means:
supporting local producers and artisans whose products enrich the culinary and experiential offer of the destination;
involving providers in the Slovenia Green Scheme, which promotes sustainable practices at all levels;
implementing projects that encourage environmentally friendly mobility and energy efficiency in tourist accommodations.
In this way, we create an environment where locals and visitors alike feel welcome and safe, while contributing to the preservation of quality of life and the natural beauty of Brežice and its surroundings.
