A sunny Sunday morning brought a large number of visitors to Ban’s Homestead in Artiče, where they enjoyed a diverse program organized as part of the European Mobility Week.
The event, organized by the Brežice Institute for Entrepreneurship, Tourism and Youth together with the Artiče Tourist Association, combined movement, socializing, and culinary delights. Early in the morning, the first teams rolled up their sleeves to prepare goulash. All 12 teams showcased their cooking skills, with the professional jury awarding first place for the best goulash to the team from the Jernej Molan Barracks.
After the organizers’ welcome speeches and a musical performance by the Mixed Choir of the Artiče Cultural Society, hikers set off at 9 a.m. on an approximately 11-kilometer walk along the Artiče Fruit Trail. At 10 a.m., a guided children’s hike was organized, concluding with a treasure hunt and creative activities for the youngest participants.
A new feature of this year’s event was a guided cycling experience, offering participants the chance to explore the surrounding area on two wheels. They covered about 40 kilometers, adding even more variety to the day.
Along the way, both hikers and cyclists could enjoy local specialties at several stops, while back at Ban’s Homestead they were welcomed with warm goulash, a performance by the Oton Župančič Artiče Folklore Group, and a lively musical program by the Žerjav Brothers Ensemble, which created a warm and festive atmosphere.
