The European Film Festival is coming to Brežice to mark the end of the summer holidays, offering visitors the chance to enjoy 12 outstanding European films.
2nd European Film Festival in Brežice
The European Film Festival Brežice 2025 will take place from 27 to 30 August, continuing the story that began last year with an exceptional audience response.
Most of the festival events will once again be held at the Posavje Museum Brežice, where the official opening will take place on Wednesday, 27 August at 7 PM with a screening of the romantic drama We Live in Time, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Visitors can look forward to 12 feature films and one short film, as well as numerous guests – both international and local. The programme includes a wide variety of film evenings, three Slovenian premieres, screenings for children, and a special thematic evening at a new festival location – Penine Istenič in Stara vas na Bizeljsko, where the film Wine Miracle will be shown.
The festival will conclude on Saturday, 30 August at 10 PM at the Brežice Youth Centre with an audience award ceremony and a concert. The closing film will be the documentary Praslovan, a story about Zoran Predin, which won the Audience Award at the Slovenian Film Festival. Zoran Predin will personally attend the screening. Before that, the short film 13th Round by Dejan Zavec will also be shown, and Zavec himself will be a guest on the final evening.
Tickets for film screenings will be available at the Posavje Museum Brežice from 1 August 2025.
• FESTIVAL PASS: €35 for adults, €20 for students, seniors, and the unemployed. Available until 25 August 2025.
• SINGLE SCREENING TICKET: €5 for screenings between Thursday, 28 August and Saturday, 30 August 2025. Tickets can be purchased in advance or on the day of the screening from 1 August 2025 onward.
Special Festival Packages for Visitors from Other Regions
This year, the Brežice Institute for Entrepreneurship, Tourism and Youth (ZPTM Brežice) has prepared special one-day thematic festival packages for visitors who want to come to Brežice in a carefree and sustainable way – by train.
The packages include a film screening, culinary delights, and sightseeing.
