On Monday, the jubilee 25th expert meeting of conservators-restorers took place at the Posavje Museum Brežice. This is the central annual gathering of professionals in the field, organized by the Association of Slovene Museums, the Slovene Restorers' Association, and the Posavje Museum Brežice, which, as a regional museum, hosted the event for the fourth consecutive time.
At the Posavje Museum Brežice, the 25th Expert Meeting of Conservators-Restorers brought together 86 professionals from Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, Slovakia, and Portugal. They presented their latest findings, achievements, and discoveries through lectures and posters. The poster exhibition, showcasing current projects, is on view until 30 June 2025 in the first and second halls of the PMB Gallery. Summaries of the posters and lectures are also published in the accompanying publication Konservator-restavrator, edited under the careful guidance of editor-in-chief Ajda Mladenović.
The main goal of the meeting was to provide professional development for conservators-restorers through the exchange of hands-on experiences in the fields of architectural and technical heritage, digital and emerging technologies, and related areas such as preventive conservation, education, exhibition presentation, and scientific research, which are crucial for successful conservation-restoration work. The lectures were aimed at professionals in the field, and the event also included presentations from sponsors. The meeting is part of the 18th conservation-restoration transversal, which will continue until November with various activities highlighting the efforts of those dedicated to safeguarding cultural heritage.
The opening in the Knights’ Hall featured welcoming speeches by Patricia Čular, Director of the Brežice Municipal Administration; Alenka Černelič Krošelj, Chair of the Presidency of the Association of Slovene Museums and Director of the PMB; and Emina Frljak Gašparović, President of the Slovene Restorers' Association, who also officially opened the poster exhibition. The meeting was moderated by conservator-restorer Irena Porekar Kacafura.
After the opening, participants toured the poster exhibition, attended expert lectures and poster presentations, and enjoyed time to network over refreshments.
