In 2025, Terme Čatež proudly celebrates 100 years of tourism – a remarkable milestone that marks its evolution into one of the largest and most recognisable thermal destinations in Slovenia and beyond.
Terme Čatež – Then and Now
The healing power of thermal water in the area now known as Čatež was noted in historical records centuries ago. In the early 19th century, the Attems noble family acquired the land and began to harness the natural thermal springs for health and wellness. In 1925, they established a small health resort for guests — the very beginning of what would become a century-long story of thermal tourism.
From Humble Beginnings to a Leading Thermal Resort
The construction of the first hotel “Zdraviliški dom” in 1925 laid the foundations for the modern Terme Čatež. After World War II, the resort experienced rapid growth and became a well-known destination. Today, Terme Čatež boasts the largest water park in Central Europe, covering 12,000 m² of thermal water surfaces, sourced from 11 healing thermal springs. Open all year round, the resort also offers a wide range of accommodations, wellness services, and recreational activities — making it a top choice for families, wellness seekers, and adventure lovers alike.
Special Celebration: 21 July 2025
To honour this special anniversary, Terme Čatež will host a festive celebration on 21 June 2025. The program promises a vibrant mix of cultural and entertainment experiences — from interactive animations and spectacular performances by the Dunking Devils, to prize giveaways, live music, and a surprise vocal performance.
