| Address | Župeča vas 27-34, 8263 Cerklje ob Krki |
The monument to Stanislav Lenič features his episcopal coat of arms and a princely stone, symbolizing Slovenian heritage, intertwined with wheat swaying in the wind, representing freedom. Auxiliary Bishop of Ljubljana, Dr. Stanislav Lenič, was born on November 6, 1911, in Župeča vas into a farming family. After losing his parents at a young age, he was cared for by relatives and Chaplain Matej Tomazin, who supported his education. He was ordained as a priest on July 4, 1937, in the Ljubljana Cathedral.
In 1940, Bishop Gregorij Rožman appointed him diocesan secretary, a position he held until 1947, when he was sentenced to 12 years in prison during a staged trial, of which he served eight and a half years. Upon his release in 1955, he served as a parish priest in Sodražica and became a general vicar and cathedral provost in 1964. Pope Paul VI appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of Ljubljana in 1967, and he was consecrated in January 1968. He dedicated his efforts to promoting vocations and supporting Slovenians abroad. After retiring in 1988, he publicly spoke out about injustices against Bishop Rožman and the Church. He passed away on January 4, 1991.
The Lenič House in Sajevci near Kostanjevica na Krki, one of the spiritual centers of the Diocese of Novo Mesto, is named after him. In addition to the monument in his birthplace, a statue of him also stands near the Parish Church of St. Mark in Cerklje ob Krki.
