The Church of St. Jerome in Artiški vrh
| Address | Artiški vrh, 8254 Blatno |
The Church of St. Jerome in Blatno is a subsidiary church of the Parish of Pišece. It is situated on Artiški Vrh, the highest point in the village, rising 331 meters above sea level. The church is surrounded by vineyards and hills. The chancel has a three-sided closure, while the nave is rectangular. A bell tower stands in front of the western façade. The main altar, dating from the early 18th century, is in the style of the golden altars of the 17th century. On the southern side of the nave is a stone plaque from 1693, which documents the early beginnings of the church. The church was renovated after the earthquake of 1917 and again in 1990 when a new bell was added. Before the 1990 renovation, a 3 km access road was constructed. During the renovation, the church received a new façade, the bell tower was repainted, and a new roof was installed. The bell tower houses two bells, but only the larger one rings.
