| Address | Brezje pri Bojsnem 23, 8254 Globoko |
The Church of St. Ulrich in Brezje pri Bojsnem is a subsidiary church of the Parish of Pišece, dedicated to St. Ulrich of Augsburg (Urh). It is situated on a hill in the middle of a scattered village, surrounded by vineyards and wine cellars. Historical records trace back to 1657, when the area was already part of the Pišece Vicariate. The church was originally built in the 17th century, as evidenced by the foundation stone with the year 1665, which is now used as the threshold at the entrance. The first bell, dated 1686, left a distinctive mark on the history of this place.
Before the renovation in 1878, the church consisted of an older masonry structure with a wooden ceiling and roof. After an earthquake in the same year, extensive restoration followed, during which the altar was relocated to its current position in the sacristy, and the sacristy was moved to the present location of the altar. In 1886, the church was consecrated by the dean from Vidma ob Savi. However, due to the earthquake, the ceiling collapsed in 1895, causing the sacristy to be reinforced with iron bindings instead of a church wall.
