The castle stands on a hill above Bizeljska vas. First mentioned in 1404, it played an important role as a defensive outpost, while its strategic position was important for numerous noble families.
The castle, initially constructed in medieval style, today shows renaissance and baroque features. Its rectangular arcaded courtyard is surrounded by four two-storey wings, while there are two slender round towers covered with a cone-shaped roof standing at the corners on the west side. The Church of St. Hieronim from 1623 and large rooms with remnants of stucco from the late 18th century and decorative paintings are worth a visit. The castle also features the Wisell Wine cellar. The family is known for their top-quality predicate wines and speciality wines.
