A significant milestone has now been achieved by Terme Paradiso, as Paradiso Penzion has been awarded the EU Ecolabel, the European Union’s official environmental label for tourist accommodation. With this achievement, Paradiso Penzion has become the first tourist accommodation provider in the Brežice destination to receive this prestigious European environmental certification, recognising its commitment to responsible resource management and sustainable, high-quality operations.

EU Ecolabel – A European Standard for Sustainable Tourism

The EU Ecolabel, also known as the EU Flower, is the European Union’s official environmental label for environmentally friendly products and services. Awarded to accommodation providers that meet strict environmental criteria established by the European Commission, it demonstrates a long-term commitment to sustainable business practices and reducing environmental impacts.

Obtaining the certification involves a demanding assessment process, including comprehensive documentation, compliance with numerous mandatory and optional criteria, and independent verification by qualified experts. The criteria cover areas such as energy efficiency, water conservation, sustainable management, waste reduction, environmentally responsible operations, engagement with the local community, and encouraging guests to adopt sustainable practices. Due to its rigorous requirements and regular monitoring, the EU Ecolabel is recognised as one of Europe's most credible environmental certifications for tourist accommodation.

Opened in late 2025, Paradiso Penzion was designed from the outset according to the principles of sustainable and energy-efficient construction. A substantial part of the investment was dedicated to environmentally friendly materials and technologies that improve energy and water efficiency while reducing the property's overall environmental footprint.

One of the property's distinctive features is the responsible use of natural resources. As part of Terme Paradiso, the accommodation benefits from its own thermal water source, used for heating and supplying the thermal pools under a granted concession. Renewable energy also plays an important role, with electricity generated by an on-site solar power plant. Guests are actively encouraged to contribute to sustainability through responsible resource use, waste separation, and environmentally friendly mobility, including bicycle rental for exploring the destination.
