Aquavisio Connects the Waters of Posavje with Knowledge, Experiences and Tourism

A press conference was held at the Čatež ob Savi Tourist Information Centre to present the launch of the project Aquavisio – When the Waters of Posavje Connect with Knowledge, Experiences and Tourism.

The project will connect all six municipalities of the Posavje region and introduce visitors to its waterways, freshwater ecosystems and the importance of responsible natural resource management in a modern and interactive way. It is being implemented by the Regional Development Agency Posavje, the lead partner of Fisheries LAG Posavje. The total value of the project is approximately €230,000, of which more than €190,000 is provided through the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund programme.

An important part of the project will be developed at Villa Envira in Brežice, where a modern digital interpretation centre will be established. Through interactive content, visitors will be able to explore the freshwater ecosystems of Posavje and discover the connections between water, nature, tourism, energy and sustainable development.

Another special feature of the project is a set of fish-shaped VR headsets offering the experience “Swim in the Waters of Posavje”. They are available at six locations across the region, including the Terme Čatež Tourist Information Centre, where visitors can already embark on a virtual exploration of the aquatic world. The other locations are the Radeče Tourist Information Centre, Sevnica Castle, the Valvasor Library Krško, the Kostanjevica na Krki Tourist Information Centre and the Bistrica ob Sotli Library.

The press conference was attended by the Mayor of the Municipality of Brežice, Ivan Molan; the Director of the Regional Development Agency Posavje, Nataša Šerbec; the Director of HESS, Boštjan Pišotek; and the Director of Sales and Marketing at Terme Čatež, Alenka Mokrovič Pogačar. They highlighted the importance of connecting the local community, tourism providers, educational institutions and associations, as well as the opportunities the project creates for educating young people, protecting nature and developing new tourism experiences.

The Aquavisio project will run until November 2027. Its aim is to connect aquaculture, education, tourism and nature conservation while presenting the water-related stories of Posavje to local residents and visitors in an engaging and accessible way.
